Vehicles
left on the road can be vulnerable to thieves.
If visitors or horse riders are in the vicinity then delay your take off
or landing to avoid them.

Take
Off
It
is possible to take off just above Marine Drive, the car park road, from
near the path to the top. This access is not very visible and is about
200m N of the Toilets.
The air is usually smooth, so it is ideal for pilots fresh from
flying schools to gain confidence & experience in relative
safety.

Hazards
If
a search & rescue helicopter repeatedly flies close to the flying
site, a rescue operation is being mounted and
all fliers must land immediately.
Strong thermals can come from the beach and the dunes.

Experienced
PG pilots may find the dunes soarable in relative safety when it is too
strong on the main hill.. In these conditions expect low level rotor
behind top of the dunes.

Only
two local vehicles are allowed to be parked in the take-off area, and
vehicles are no longer allowed to travel across the 3 fields to drop off
gliders and return to the road. Drop your gear just inside the wooden
gate. You may park in Marine Drive car park , which runs along the bottom
of the hill above the beach. There
is a path from Marine Drive to the Take- off, starting 200m North of the
toilets.
