This
is a valley site which is turbulent at the best of times. with only a
short beat.
Not an easy site, so inexperienced pilots and visitors should not fly
without a local experienced pilot present for advice.

Avoid
landing below the moor. Only TWO gliders in the air at once.
Do
not fly if the local hunt is in progress and avoid riders on horseback.

Bottom
landing
There
is no direct bottom landing off the moor. Use the bottom landing areas indicated,
which are almost level with take off after flying off the southern end
of the ridge, but 1/4 mile back above / behind the cars where the ground
levels out in the boggy area. Choose an area close to the village but
beware the trees and power lines.

Directions
Take
the road North from the A38 to Cold East Cross for 4 miles, then turn
right for Bonehill Down. Follow the road for 2 miles to Rock Basins and
Chinkwell Tor. From Haytor take the Widecombe road but turn right befor
dropping down the last hill to Widecombe. Do not drive up the track at
Chinkwell Tor or Block it with parked cars.
